The Secondary section of the school commences with the one year Pre-IGCSE Year 9 programme, leading into the two years of the IGCSE course during Year's 10 and 11. Upon successful completion of the IGCSE examinations pupils can progress to take their AS and A-level courses in Year's 12 and 13, before moving on to universities across the globe.
Pre-IGCSE
Subjects taught in Year 9 include core areas such as English, Mathematics, Sciences and ICT. Modern Foreign Languages, Humanities and Arts subjects are also covered, along with Physical Education lessons. The Year 9 curriculum provides students with a solid foundation as preparation for their IGCSE course in Year's 10 and 11.
IGCSE
In Year's 10 and 11 students follow courses leading to the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examinations set by the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) and Edexcel Boards in the UK.
Most students take IGCSE examinations in nine subjects. Mathematics, English Language and English Literature, and at least one Science subject are compulsory. We also expect students to take at least one Humanities subject and a Modern Foreign Language. The subject choices within this framework are flexible, and the individual needs of students are taken into account.

A-levels
Moving into the Sixth Form to study AS and A2 levels can be one of the most exciting and challenging periods in a student's life. At Brookhouse we have designed a Sixth Form experience which gives careful thought to the transition from Year 11 to Advanced Level education and enables a much more adult approach to study.
Brookhouse has a traditional Sixth Form; its strengths lie in individual attention, smaller group sizes and a caring environment. Within this framework we are able to offer a tremendous variety of subject choices. Our students attain consistently high standards in examinations and every year we send students to universities and colleges around the globe, to the finest institutions in the UK, USA, South Africa, Canada and Australia, as well as to Kenyan universities.
Facilities at Brookhouse are impressive. The science and computer laboratories are all well-equipped and all subject areas are suitably resourced to meet curriculum demands at this advanced level of study.

At Brookhouse students who start the AS/A-level course in September will take AS papers at the end of Year 12. Any AS level retakes are done at the end of Year 13 along with the A2 examinations.
Some American universities or UK university foundation courses may accept AS levels as sufficient entry requirements. However, good universities worldwide will always require completion of full A-levels.
Admission to the Sixth Form 
A student who is interested in joining Brookhouse Sixth Form should complete the application form and forward it to the school. They should also request an interview, if this is practical. Copies of previous school reports and Mock IGCSE examination or actual examination grades should be submitted.
Entry to Brookhouse Sixth Form requires the pupil to achieve five good passes in their IGCSE examinations, including Mathematics and English. Occasionally, students may be admitted with lower grades if they agree to re-take some IGCSE examinations. The key to admission is whether or not the student will benefit from the courses available at the school.
Students who wish to join A-level classes after completing KCSE examinations should have a mock grade of at least a C+ average. These students normally enter Year 12 in Term Two and may, upon seeking approval from the school, take their AS and A2 papers together at the end of Year 13, after five terms in Brookhouse.
Dress Code
Secondary students wear the full school uniform and must present a smart business-like appearance as found in a formal work situation.
Year 12 IGCSE Re-Sits
For students who have not fulfilled their academic potential at IGCSE level, the school provides re-sit support. The focus here on the particular needs of students as perceived by the subject teachers. Experience has indicated that it is not effective to mix-and-match November and June re-sits. Consequently, re-sit examinations will normally be taken after one full year. IGCSE re-sits are required in the core subjects, English and/or Mathematics. Any re-sits undertaken should provide a platform from which to cope with the A-level curriculum proper.
Students undertaking re-sit programmes will be counselled as to their needs, and closely monitored in terms of their academic progress. They will be expected to take a mature approach to their studies, co-operating closely with their teachers.
